Yes, that's what I meant: May 15th 2001! When I saw the first time the XP problem reported in DOS32 newsgroup, it was the autumn of 2001, and someone said he emailed to Doug, and Doug emailed him a fix. But the page still didn't get updated!

The May 15th 2001 X32 update only addresses the 2-byte stack alignment problem when X32 is run under real mode, with no memory manager, AFAIK...

Oops! I guess we're a little stuck then with DOSX under XP.

Not necessarily... a fix should be available, and it works, as someone reported on the newsgroup. I just don't understand why Doug didn't make this publicly available...

there is a temporary solution if not nice: multi boot.
create a new dos partition (Partition Magic ?) and choose your os at boot time.
Partition Magic can do that too (PQBoot).
Looks like making a new partition for Linux.
If you have Linux installed, Lilo can do the job too.

There is an other solution under Linux: a software called Wmware.
I don't know exately what it is but i know guys having linux while there client
or coleague run
Windows and can't afford usual Linux fantasy.
So, when needed, they switch to Windows (even XP) running on a "Linux box"
thanks to Wmware.
It seems to run perfectly and fast if you have big memory.
May be you can run DOS under Linux/Wmware as well.
I have in mind trying Wmware. I will try it running DOSX as well
I will let you know the result.
As usual i don't know when so don't expect to me.

cheers

Why VMWARE? Doesn't X32 work under DOSEMU?

There's VMWARE for WinNT, also, I heard it works just as well as the Linux version. But I'd be more interested in a fix for X32, rather than an OS emulator.

Okay, I'll try under DOSEmu... making "the right conf" file is not a big problem (I've been doing this since before DOSEmu was 0.66 :).
