I just have a look at the Eclipse JFace docs and it seems! that porting is straightforward. It also seems that there exists no dependecies to the Eclipse platform. So I can imagine to start porting Jface to DFace (I guess we will choose this name) But before I waste time I would like to know : 1) Anybody out there who allready give it a try ? 2) What about general pitfalls ? (I mean common mistakes one will make when porting Java to D. I think the DWT folks should have some experience <g>) 3) What Tools are in use ? Bjoern Lietz-Spendig Regarding 2) : Thanks to Walter a lot of "from C to D docs" are available . Any hints regarding "from Java to D docs" ? |

Posted in reply to BLS | I have viewed the JFace source code before. Besides SWT, it partially depends on org.eclipse.core.commands package. I asked Kris for a j2d converter to do a pre-translation. It will save a lot of work but many manually porting is still required. And some classes in JRE packages needs to be implemented in D. I didn't go any further so far. Currently I still focus on an update of DWT. This version will be consistent with SWT 3.2 M5. It may take a long time because there are lots of changes between SWT 3.02 and 3.2 and because lack of spare time. Anybody interested in porting JFace to D is welcome. The attempts will be very important and helpful. One can ask Kris for a j2d converter if he(she) is interested. Posted in reply to news.digitalmars.com | Okay, I still have to check some preliminaries. Where should I place further questions? Here or within the DForge DWT forum ?
