I know Walter attends the NW C++ user group but I dont see why he does not head his own user group for the D language, especially considering there is a successful Go programming language group in the Seattle area:
http://www.meetup.com/golang/?a=wm1&rv=wm1&ec=wm1
Such a group would have no lack of topics and speakers considering the inventor of the language would head the group.

Actually, a bunch of us local D heads use the NWC++ user group meeting as an excuse to get together and go out for beers afterwards.

http://nwcpp.org/

The next meeting is Nov. 21, so see ya all there!

Seems it is already officially accepted: "We are interested in C++, C, the D language, concurrency..."

I've given many D presentations at those meetings. It's a friendly audience to try out new material on.
