Awesome!

Further to the pledge, if there's anyone from the UK wanting / planning to go to the conference, please be in touch. :-)

I am not sure I will be able to get to the D conference, but…

Should we be trying to create a D community in London/Brighton?

Should we be putting together training courses and getting Skills Matter or someone to list them?

Russel, I have already planned a D workshop @ UCL for this year, but due to some circumstances it is going to be postponed for next year. :( There are few people interested in this and I hope by the time we are ready to do it we will have more.

The workshop will most likely be a part of the CREST Open Workshop programme - http://crest.cs.ucl.ac.uk/cow/ .

Kind regards

Given that now I've moved from the fields of Shropshire to a place closer to the centre of civilisation, I would say this would be a good oportunity to do such a thing.

I have been a committee member of the UK AUA (http://www.iua.org.uk) and I know that the best way to get funding is to find good sponsors. That is my recommendation to you, Andrei. - Try hard to find sponsors for the DConf. Perhaps FSF would help or some other open-source funding organisation?

I think that's a great idea. I am, of course, trying to bring in Facebook sponsorship. All - please bring the campaign to the attention of interested entities by your employer: recruiters, managers etc.

If you have any contacts that you think I could cold-email, please write me email. In particular, who in FSF would be suitable?

Thanks,

Andrei

The moment I saw the thread I made a thread at LinkedIn - http://www.linkedin.com/groups/DConf-2013-needs-funding-3923820.S.177855009 . I hope people will see it and help.

Wouldn't FSF have issues with the reference implementation's back end not being free software?
