Is it correct that he hasn't managed to convince Microsoft to release his sources and one of us has to rewrite his library if we want to use it?

Yes.

You can look at Juno, it makes COM quite a bit easier.

I've basically been trying to keep it compiling as D progresses so I don't have much in the way of how to use it, so you're stuck with the old documents on dsource
