I have tried a couple of the downloads from this site and i either get the color version that plays in demo mode, or a message in DosBox on launch that  contains a Win32 error message.  I would like the basic 2 player game, black and white, where the enemy is in small letters and the good guys (me) are in caps.  Any suggestions as to how to get this done?

I'm trying to do the same thing without success.  I got hooked on this game many years ago.  I had file that worked that was emailed to me by Mr. Bright.  I lost it when I had computer issues.

I've tried multiple downloads and I've been trying DosBox and can't seem to configure it properly.  I wish there was a simple file that could be downloaded that works with current versions of windows.  I'd go buy a Mac just for this game if that would work.

I was able to get emp110 to run in DosBox in Window 10.  Here is what i did.
1) Download emp110 to a folder called c:\games
2) Start DosBox
3) Mount the game folder
   mount c c:\games\emp110
4) changed to the newly mounted c drive
5) start empire.exe


I found that when I saved the game, it was written to the b.map file.  But, empire expects the save file to be called empire.dat.  So, for the next session, i renamed b.map to empire.dat.  After that, i was able to load my game and resume playing.
