It is becoming annoying to click and check each NG for newer messages, as the OE continues to display wrong 'unread messages' on the DigitalMars news server. Consider c++.stl.hp group ... this has no messages inside, still the newsreader shows '16'. It reappears even after 'catching up' - this means it is sent by the server. Even after considering the fact that OE might have a goofup in its logic, why should the server send this number '16'? This indicates that the message pruning and reindexing on the server also has a goofup.... How about checking the server and ensuring that it does not send incorrect info to OE? In the worst case restore the unpruned messages?? - Rajiv |

Posted in reply to Rajiv Bhagwat | FWIW this behaviour is the same for the Netscape 7.0 newsreader. . . Posted in reply to Cesar Rabak | It's worth a lot. Jan has been telling us that this is purely an artefact of Outlook or Outlook Express. I'd very much welcome a resolution to this, since it is very tiresome to go through the process that Rajiv describes. btw, has anyone else noticed a dramatic drop in newsgroup postings since this problem's been present? I wonder what the stats are on it? It can't be good for Digital Mars commercially ... :( Matthew > FWIW this behaviour is the same for the Netscape 7.0 newsreader. . . > > > Rajiv Bhagwat escreveu: > > It is becoming annoying to click and check each NG for newer messages, as > > the OE continues to display wrong 'unread messages' on the DigitalMars news > > server. > > > > Consider c++.stl.hp group ... this has no messages inside, still the newsreader shows '16'. Posted in reply to Matthew Wilson | We are well aware of the wonderful support Jan has been providing for these newsgroups, but I guess he is simply unaware of the large number of people affected and annoyed by this. - Rajiv "Matthew Wilson" <matthew.hat@stlsoft.dot.org> wrote in message news:bqeh21$2foc$1@digitaldaemon.com... > It's worth a lot. Well, that is the only news reader I have seen the problems with. I have been searching on how to reset the articles counts in INN, but have not find a conclusive answer. > I'd very much welcome a resolution to this, since it is very tiresome to go > through the process that Rajiv describes.
