Here's probably a dumb question - is MFC avaliable free anywhere or do you have to buy it as part of a MS package like Visual C++? I've looked on their site and couldn't see anything useful.

I think it only comes with the VC-- compiler...
You would be able to use it with DMC++ if you either have a copy of the DMC++ CD-ROM (on which 4.2x is included I think) or if you have a copy of VC-- 6.0 and apply the patches that are around.

If you are looking for a Window Class Library and are new to any I personally would suggest you look at wxWidgets www.wxwidgets.org
