I have problems finding a internship in my own country mostly due to lack of "experience" (time spent with working at any kind of workplace, even if it's working at a fast food restaurant), and without it I cannot get my college degree. My local area has no real IT jobs, or they look to employ a person full time who's more experienced with networking or Linux.

I have multiple projects in D, PixelPerfectEngine (a 2D game engine made specifically to mimic retro aesthetics; link: https://github.com/ZILtoid1991/pixelperfectengine ), libPCM (ADPCM, Mu-Law, and A-Law algorithms; link: https://github.com/ZILtoid1991/libPCM ). There's two yet unpublished projects: CPUblit (image composing and drawing algorithms, currently awaits for testing of assembly lines) and libLZHAM (compression algorithm with LZMA-like ratios and near ZLib decompression speeds, full backwards compatibility with ZLib, soon I'll talk with the writer of the original algorithm if I can license my port under the Boost license).

For my college thesis I planned to use my own game engine, but if somebody has some better idea for a project, then I can compromise with that.

Nice idea for thesis. Well, you must choose a good thesis supervisor who will direct you with sources of information. Also get some academic help at https://writemyessaysonline.com writing service.
