Awesome!

For those who can't/don't want to watch the videos online, here are links to download videos and presentation materials:

Walter Bright and Andrei Alexandrescu
Jul 9, 2008 Walter Bright and Andrei Alexandrescu discussing the future of the D Programming Language.
The future of D is a fun topic that's on the minds of, well, everyone. These two will present a joint talk about what's coming, how it will affect the language, and some of the reasons behind the changes.

Don Clugston
Generating Truly Optimal Code
Jul 9, 2008 Don Clugston's presentation is about the innovative metaprogramming features in D that give library writers the possibility of generating highly optimised code on-demand, with a quality that was previously only available to a compiler back-end. In this presentation, the key techniques will be discussed, and illustrated using the BLADE library, which performs basic linear algebra operations with a performance equivalent to hand-crafted assembly code.

Benjamin Shropshire
Compile Time Abstraction
Jul 9, 2008 Benjamin Shropshire's talk at the D Programming Language Conference:\r\n\r\nThis talk covers a number of topics involving template compile time techniques. It begins with a quick intro to what these techniques are. Then it proceeds into a more in depth look at some compile time abstractions and a few novel compile time processing structures. Lastly it takes a look at why, when and when not to use compile time techniques.

BTW, are you going to release them separately from googlevideo?
There are some problems with synchronization and qualitity.

Ok! I was kind of worried there. ("Why... me?")

Only some of the videos have a download link (mine and Don's) any reason for that?

and

Sweet! Thanks for doing this.

The audio sync isn't google's fault, it's the source material and holds for all of the videos. I'm sticking with google since it's (and their sister service you tube) are the most obvious and best known service. Goggle's search engine indexes their videos, etc. Using a lesser known less search friendly site yields less visibility overall.

My best guess as to why the download link is inconsistent is due to file size. The short ones are downloadable but not the long ones. After getting the rest up -- all of which are in between the two sets -- we'll see if that holds true.

As to explicitly making the files downloadable from elsewhere, I'll probably do so after a week or three up at google so that the number of people who want to download them is reduced, thus reducing the cost of making the larger versions downloadable.

Don't be embarrassed or afraid to watch yourself. The talks were all interesting. Half of them I didn't get to see during the conference (out of the room too much making sure food was available, drinks were cold, etc), so I'm watching them for the first time now.

Later,
Brad

Yep, that's flash video. I suggest viewing it with KMPlayer (recommender one! http://www.kmplayer.com/forums/index.php, not to be confused with KDE KMPlayer) or GOM player (http://www.gomplayer.com/) or Sothink FLV Player (http://www.sothinkmedia.com/flv-player/download.htm) or one of the other players, there are a plenty of them.

Or, alternatively, download these two codecs to play in almost any other video player:
http://www.free-codecs.com/FFDShow_download.htm
http://www.free-codecs.com/Flash_Video_Splitter_download.htm

All of these are windows only. You shouldn't have any problems with MPlayer under Linux.

Just yesterday I downloaded a NWCPP talk from video.google.com that was almost 2 hours long.

Oh well.
