I want to use it for a (D2) project of mine. I'm part way through converting 1.15 to D2, but I figured it would be good to ask here, before commiting to maintaining an incompatible fork and porting over diffs between releases of upstream.

Yes, it'll get done. Not until D2 is out, though.
