Cutting this down makes the bug disappear.
Simply unzip, cd lib, and type 'go', you get:
   Assertion failure: 'cd' on line 1204 in file 'expression.c'
   abnormal program termination

The bug has something to do with the template readLineT in the stream class in stream.d, comment that out and the calls to readLine in the file.d unittest and all is well.
