FYI I just got around to generate again the plot for the moving average of daily downloads and the trend is pretty nice: http://erdani.com/d/downloads.daily.png (The spike occurred during my talk in China.) |

Does this filter out repeated IP addresses, or use any other method to try to exclude duplicates?

No filtering except for Travis CI. I'm not sure how IP sharing (common in Asia, Africa) influences unicity. A cursory look at the past few days suggests a 10:1 ratio of total IPs to unique IPs. So the 5000 downloads shown per day would be from 500 unique IPs, which is still good. The trend is more interesting to watch than the absolute value.

It is, nevertheless I'm wondering what happened there in 2018 :)

Thank you!
So the user base of D seams to increase always faster and faster - if you look at the time for doubling from app. 1000 to 2000 and from 2000 to 4000 you can derive that the growth is stronger then exponatial!
If for every download just 10 $cent would be charged, it might gave a nice funding for DLF....

In my line of work, I would place a Donate link close to the download button. And many other _appropriate_ places and add that it go a long way to help improve D.
Call to action close value provided.

Does the hosting sites for LDC, GDC and VisualD have the same functionality storing download statistics? It would be interesting to see the amount of downloads for them too. VisualD is probably one of the more popular downloads which bundles DMD.

Great idea, I took it up with Mike. Thanks!
