@Martin yeah the dragon looks almost the same. May be a Dodo as a mascot ?

Thanx all ! I just wanted to get the idea across.

I doubt a Dodo would send a positive message... considering they when extinct years ago and where considered to have very little intelligence.

I think a Martian is the best idea.

My first thought when I saw this thread was some kind of cute little Astronaut. I like the name "Digital Martian" but worry that any kind of alien mascot would lack originality or require explanation. What does it take to be a Martian? DO the Mars Rovers count?

If you are to venture into robot realm, we could use the bottom half of R2D2 - it is as close to D2 as anything can get and it is almost universally recognized...

Just musing :-)

Just updated with another pose: D-man running away in horror. Probably from the shock of seeing ugly C++ code. :-P

Not bad. Better than my rendering!

Apparently, then, when you have no substance, the cure is to get a mascot? Good products "sell" themselves. If D lacks market share after being introduced 10 years ago, do you REALLY think a cutsie-tootsie graphic is going to help? Hello.

That said, I would like to know HOW MANY is this group of soldiers fighting for D's resurrection and saving of the world. Seriously. How many? Also, I would like to know, in a consolidated way, what the hopes are of those "soldiers". (I think I may know, even if they don't).

Lastly, I would like to know if there are any developers (or programmers, and yes, there is a difference) here that have not ever worked with C or C++.

(Yeah, I tend to be blunt. Deal with it.)

These are orthogonal concerns.

10 years ago, it was not a language I would have used. (In fact, the same probably holds for a time span of only 2 years.)

Why do you assume it is intended to?

Hi.

It never died.

That is completely unimportant.

I enjoy using D. Popularity contests are childish.

(Well, why do you tend to be blunt? Most people are not like that.
Also, why do you care?)
