It'll be a pleasure to participate in all the good stuff I see over there!

Andrei, I already have a dsource account and currently use svn under Windows
(Vista) and linux (Kubuntu 10.04, but I do not have dmd installed there).
Rest assured, I do not intend to break Phobos from day one :o)

I don't know if that's customary to present oneself here? I'm 36 yo (ouch), happily married for more than 10 years, father of three children (6 yo, 3 yo, 8 months). I got a PhD 10 years ago on organic LED, the kind you now all have on you, but was 10-by-6 green pixels back then :o)


Things I'd like to help with:

* Phobos code, obviously, notably std.algorithm, functional, traits, range, typecons, container, string, numeric, array, typetuple, maybe variant... I'm feeling more or less confident on these, and totally incompetent on any other :o) I will not touch core.*, even with a 10-ft pole. Anyway, I guess it's not part of Phobos proper.

* Improving the documentation & examples for Phobos. I feel like most functions and templates should have an example, if only a one liner. As an aside, some modules could have satellite articles attached to them, with a more developed example exercising the module, for example in dmd/samples -> /container, /string etc. Reading the docs is good, seeing more than a one-liner is even better.

* unit tests...

* Cleaning the DMD examples up: maybe putting some of the useful scripts you like so much? Also, see above for my proposition to have more extended examples for some modules.

* Updating the website documentation, if that's OK with Walter. I feel like some people on the main ML could be invaluable in this.


And... I'm going on holidays in a few hours, in a place where I fear Internet access is not perfect ( http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mont_blanc ). I won't bother you for some time.

OK, I'll begin testing. Just a checkout for now.

If I have enough time, I'll collect my impressions, to create a Phobos dev
primer.
I won't commit anything right now, and will anyway post here beforehand, to
see if what I propose is OK.

Near Paris (France). It's about 600 km to go in the Alps. That means a 4h train trip (6-7h with a car), a 30? ticket. I won't be climbing with the children, but we can jump above torrents look at marmots and chamois and gorge ourselves on blueberries and raspberries :)
