I just installed the latest Ubuntu release (hence earlier rebuild of ldc;-) and out of curiosity, checked what ldc version was available in the repos. The result (shown below) seems a bit outdated in its description to me -- surely "LDC already compiles a lot of D code, but should still be considered beta quality" is by now a terrible misrepresentation of the state of the compiler?

Description-en: LLVM D Compiler
LDC is a compiler for the D programming Language. It is based on the
latest DMD frontend and uses LLVM as backend.
 .
LDC already compiles a lot of D code, but should still be considered
beta quality. Take a look at the tickets to get a better impression
on what still needs to be implemented.
 .
This is the actual ldc compiler

That was the tagline on the old dsource page for ldc for a long time. Probably the debian packager hasn't bothered to update it.
