Hehe, but windows is many peoples prefered platform ( myself included ).  I think linux is ideal for server apps, but as a desktop it wouldn't be my first choice.  The biggest thing i think is hurting linux is no unified direction, theres a hundred different distros all with different directory layouts, and the thing i _hate_ most, is no unified install system, even though this has gotten much better i think ( at least for slackware , where target dependencies are calculated for building the target, downloaded and built ).

Ive been half-heartedly following torjo's win32 generics column, its a bit verbose for my taste, but to each his own :).

As a side note Christopher Diggins of Heron ( he used to post here regurarly ) has a cool article in this month's CUJ.
