Anyone use OE for NG reader ? For some reason my OE is deleting messages , and all i have are replies starting in the middle of the thread. I dont know what criteria it uses sometimes it deletes them faster than others , how can i disable this ?

I use OE, and it doesn't delete the messages. Try poking around in the menus, there are lots of options.

Sometimes it happens if the options are set such that old old messeges are not downloaded .. hence if a new reply is made to an old thread, you won't see the thread, only the reply.

<snip top of upside-down reply>

This only follows if either the older posts have expired or their headers have not been downloaded because of the 'download up to xxx headers' (whatever it's called, it's a while since I used OE) option. Otherwise the headers will have already been downloaded.

And since over here it seems that posts never expire....

But many clients clean up messages that are so and so old, or can hold a maximum number of messages.

Actually my client (KNode)has the ability to clear old messages, but keep
the thread.

True. But that wouldn't follow from an option such that old posts aren't downloaded.
