On my Windows XP Pro it didn't crash the compiler. I got the error message but the compiler didn't crash. Using DMD v0.129

f:\temp>dmd -c -debug test.d
test.d(4): this.lookup.length is not an lvalue

f:\temp>


As I got the message on line 4 and you on line 7, I guess there other code in your test that you haven't shown us.

Yes, I see now my work machine still has DMD 0.128 on it!
