Interesting note:

The gtk version of SWT includes backends for:

gtk+
gnome-gtk+
mozilla
CDE
Cairo

Gtk+ will be the first attempt for a port to DWT, but I find the possibility of using Cairo as a backend appealing also (eventually).

Isn't someone creating Cairo for D already ?

Yes, I believe you are right.  Interfacing with Gtk+ and Cairo, however, isn't the hard part. :)
