Title says it all. Been over two years of work, and boy oh boy it feels like it now - the brain's emitting very strong "Shutdown System" commands. I think I'll be having one beer and an early night. ;-)

Naturally, the book contains a lot of STLSoft-related information, so I hope you'll all be rushing out to pre-order a copy. (Check out the book's site: http://extendedstl.com/; you can see the cover <g>)

Thanks to all those whose help has, directly or indirectly, influenced the book.

Cheers

Matthew

P.S. Now I can get STLSoft 1.9, and all those other nearly-there projects, over the line. :-)

Congratulations! It looks good and I for one cannot wait to get my hands on a copy.

Take your time to recover; you and the quality of the projects you are working on probably need it. I will delay my minor prodding for a week or so :-)

Hey Matt!
Congrats! It was a big effort, but it was damn well worth it.
Keep up the great work (and those lions purrrrring ;-))
Adi
PS
I love the cover! Extended indeed!

Well, people who've seen it so far seem to be not revolted, at least. <g>

I know that I've put a *lot* of effort into making it more readable than IC++. Not just structure and cohesion of material, but also in the actual prose and, thanks to Scott Meyers's *strong* input - arm up the back <g> - a complete removal of all footnotes. Not a single one remains!

Maybe. I find coding really relaxing, as long as it doesn't involve any significant new design, so might do some of that while the brain recovers.

In fact, I've already done a new release of shwild (http://shwild.org/), and
have done all the work (removing any dependency on the cstring project) for
another.

But I've got some real world work to do over the next week, so don't expect me to be very visibly until next w/e at the earliest. At which time I'll be most receptive to some "prodding". (FYI: One of my friends has also been in my ear about releasing FastFormat, so I reckon it might get some movement very soon ...)

Cheers, and thanks for the kind words about the book. Hope the reality does not disappoint!

Matthew

Lions?

I'd love to claim it as mine, but it was the Addison-Wesley designer. (FTR: my idea was impossibly complex and convoluted. Big shock, that!)
