Well, I've been more than a little lax in following through on my conference coordinator duties. My apologies. The good news is that I've finally got dates: Monday-Wednesday, August 4-6 2008.

First major todo, line up speakers. So, if you'd like to give a talk, please send me email (braddr@puremagic.com) with a brief description of what you want to talk about and how much time you think you'd like (aim for somewhere between 30 and 90 minutes).

I'm planning a similar format to last year with two days of talks and one day for collaborative development and/or open discussion.

More as developments unfold. I'll be putting up the registration pages once I've gotten at least enough speakers to fill a day to make sure there's enough to build a conference out of.

Thanks,
Brad

PS: No, I haven't forgotten about the videos from last year, sigh. Latest promise is for friday (THIS friday).

If I can get out there (huge if)I might be able to put something together. But I'm not committing to anything, yet. However I think it would be more of a 5-10 "here is something cool I'm working on" kind of thing. Any way you could put out a category for those and string 5-6 of them together?

<joking>And we'll have fusion in another 10 years.</joking>

Very cool! I won't be able to attend this year, but I'm looking forward to catching up on the presentations afterwards. The conference last year was quite fun.

I'm sure you'll understand that I won't be reserving a time slot for a non-commitment. :)

That said, I'm not super opposed to one session of rapid-fire 5 minute
'see what I did' talks, as long as they're informative and interesting.
And, sigh, I guess I have to be the judge of that. However, I'd much
rather aim for meaty talks, since those sorts of 5 minute short talks
are roughly the equivalent of putting up a web page and saying 'look at
this'.

Brad

At last years RubyConf they organized in the evening the so-called
RejectConf. The one with the shortest "talk" (the first took just one
minute) was allowed to talk first. Then the second-shortest and so on.
This turned out to be *really* interesting. And note that you don't have
to plan anything up front (both you and the presenter :).

Just my 5 cents.

Regards,

  Michael
