I've just deployed the DConf '22 web page with the details on how to submit a talk:

https://dconf.org/2022/

In the Call for Submissions, I quoted Ali's remark from DConf Online 2020 because he's absolutely right. In the run up to every DConf I've been involved in organizing, there have always been people who've told me they wanted to submit a talk but didn't have anything to talk about.

If you are currently using D, you probably do have something to talk about. You could talk about the architecture of your project, or some of the implementation details, and how D's features influenced your decisions. You could tell us how you implemented a complex algorithm and evolved it over time. You could use the D experience you've gained to give advice on employing specific D features to solve specific problems, or show us how you employed a D feature in unexpected ways.

There are so many possibilities. If you've never presented a conference talk before, so what? We've heard from several first-time presenters at past editions of DConf. You'll be speaking to a friendly audience, so this is a great opportunity to get a first conference talk on your CV.

If your submission is accepted, we'll reimburse you for your transportation and lodging expenses, and you won't have to pay a registration fee to attend (if you want to take advantage of the early-bird rate and register before the talks are selected, we'll send you a full refund if we choose yours).

So don't hold back. You've got nothing to lose by sending in a talk, and plenty to gain if it's selected.

I'll update the web page with information about the venue as soon as I receive confirmation that we're locked in. Early-bird registration should open in March as a 15% discount off the general rate. I'll add details about the general rate, other special discounts, and our refund policy at that time.

I recommend that you book your flights now if you're planning to attend, whether you're submitting a talk or not. This far out is the cheapest time to do it, especially if you're flying from outside of Europe. We can expect airfare prices to go up in March.

I've managed to goof up the small-screen version of the site. I'm working on it, so you might want to wait to view it on mobile.

Ugh, I pressed "Send" too fast and didn't read what I had written:

"Just found a small typo as well" is what I should've said :)

Thanks. The mobile version should be fixed now, too.

Very cool. I won't be able to make it out to London this summer, but I strongly encourage everyone who's thinking about submitting something to go for it. It's lots of fun and DConf is a great venue.
