Hi Russel,

I don't think that there are actually a lot of conflicting expectations at play here.

From the looks of it, 1.0 will actually end up being more of a technical milestone (D-based frontend, etc.) than much of a change in how progress is made. As always, we strive for it to be the best LDC release ever, but to read some special notion of constancy into the version number would be mistaken.

On a related note, keeping LDC up to date with upstream DMD was independently recognised to be an important strategic goal by a large number of people at DConf. In particular, Daniel Murphy has been pushing the point that we should unify the frontend between DMD and LDC, and Andrei made the executive decision to go forward with that. This would be a great opportunity to get involved for anybody interested in having an up-to-date LDC, as we might be a bit slim on the manpower to work towards that.

Best,
David
