This would be the 0.17.x release series, resp. the "ltsmaster" branch. It contains the last C++-only compiler, and is still maintained as far as showstoppers for bootstrapping are concerned.

It stated that 0.17 was the last C++ version, but Johan just made that more explicit, I think.
