It looks like this fix fixes the test case, but the codebase I reduced the test case from still fails.  I've reopened the bug and I'm going to try to create a new test case that still fails.

I've got dustmite running right now but this is a nightmarish bug that
involves a zillion layers of template instantiation in SciD.

In case you are looking for regressions, feel free to grab Thrift (e.g. from https://github.com/klickverbot/thrift) and run the test suite (./configure, then »make check« in lib/d/).

Still working on tracking down the mixin forward ref related regression, and stumbled upon another segfault-on-invalid bug. I start to wonder whether shipping with the »soldier on« change is really a good idea…

I've submitted a not-very-reduced test case to Bugzilla.  It's several thousand lines but at least it reproduces the bug.  I'm currently visiting my family for a long weekend and have limited time to work on this, and this appears to be the Bug From Hell. To be fair, DMD 2.058 crashed in a different location as well for this one, but again, it seems to be related to the template instantiation error changes from issue 7481 – are we really comfortable with shipping it in 2.059?

Another bug probably somehow related to the Thrift test suite breakage; at least, I am having a hard time figuring out what is really going on with the confusion it causes: http://d.puremagic.com/issues/show_bug.cgi?id=7862

I don't want to spoil the excitement, but DMD has not caused me as much trouble for quite some time - I think we should take extra care to ensure that this release is solid.
