Hi All;

Came across DMC completely by accident today, and what a happy accident it was!  I don't have any experience with DMC or SC for that matter, but any effort that brings a high quality tool like that back up is time well spent.

I noticed in perusing the group that there seems to be some trouble in getting the word out about DMC.  Forgive me for the silly question, but does DMC still compile DOS 16/32 executables?  If so, maybe posting an announcement to FreeDOS (http://www.freedos.org) or the like might help improve visibility.  I know that they've been actively following the OpenWatcom efforts.

Yes, it does, but not in the console version available for download. The patch version will. We're working on a CD with the whole shebang in it.

Although the compiler will still compile for DOSX, and we'll still provide libraries, the actual dos extender will need to be gotten from old zortech/symantec releases, as we don't have a redistribution license for it. It will also still work with Pharlap's 386 DOS extender.

I was checking a favourite site of mine (http://www.dosonly.net/compilers.htm) and there you were, big as life!  Do you think that it would be possible to use one of the freely-available DOS extenders at some point, to get around the licensing issues?

Sure, but I have no idea how compatible they may or may not be. The compiler currently works with DOSX and with Pharlap 386.

It also works with the Flashtek developments of DOSX after they parted company with the Zortech/Symantec line.  That also is a licence problem.

Do you know if FleshTek is still in business or someone who has developed the DOSX Extender? I'm also using this extender end there are problems when using my DOSX app under Win95/98 (and some other troubles too).
