So libevent/libev and libcurl will never be used in phobos? That's bad because an event loop implementation is required for high-performance IO. Reimplementing it from scratch is lots of work. (Reimplementing what libcurl offers is lots of work too, but HTTP client code is not that important for a standard library) Why can't we link dynamically to C bsd licensed libraries? Code which didn't use the curl / libev stuff then wouldn't have to include the bsd license.
