I'm finally able to announce that we're going back to London for DConf '23! Thanks to Symmetry Investments for hosting us once again.
The details as to dates, venue, and registration fees are still in the works. Nothing other than Symmetry's involvement is decided, but there are two things I can say so far.
First, we're looking at dates in September this time around. That's generally a cheaper time than July or August to travel in Europe, and it's rather late to start planning for May or June.
Second, we're all keen on going back to CodeNode. Symmetry have a good relationship with them, and we're all quite happy with the way DConf '22 turned out.
I'll push out the new website later this month and will announce the details as they are verified.
In the interim, it's time to start thinking about your talks! Remember, all of the scheduled speakers (not the Lightning Talks) are eligible for travel and lodging reimbursement and are exempt from the registration fee. So if you submit and your talk is selected, you get a free trip to London.
Never given a conference talk before? Don't let that stop you! We had something like 11 first-time DConf presenters last year (myself included), several of whom had never presented at any kind of conference.
Don't think you have anything to talk about? Then take to heart Ali's words of wisdom from DConf Online 2020:

That's it. If you're working on a D project, you've got one or more D talks in there somewhere. Many DConf talks were derived from the speakers' projects, including several at DConf '22:

If you have something in mind and you'd like to send it in now, then please go right ahead. I'll publish later on the website the full details on what we want to see, but this is the gist:
- The title
- Duration (we're looking for talks of 30 - 45 minutes)
- The intended audience (Beginner/Intermediate/Advanced/All)
- The kind of presentation (talk/paper/panel)
- The abstract (a brief summary; the "elevator pitch"; this will go on the website if selected)
- The description (as much detail as you want to provide; some speakers have submitted outlines; portions of this may go on the website if selected)
Send your submission in either plain text or Markdown to social@dlang.org. Please, no PDF, office software formats, etc.
I'll post the submission deadline and the date we'll announce the selections once we've secured the venue.
