Has anyone else noticed that the SC.exe states version 8.26n for the newest 8.27 version ?

Yes, the real version of the compiler is displayed with scppn.exe

sc is just a program that spawns the compiler itself (scppn.exe), the linker, etc. I try to avoid changing the version numbers of things that haven't changed, in order to reduce the risk of inadvertently breaking things.
