I just noticed that DMD gives several errors at once. What a boon for coding speed.

what, you've never used Visual C++ before :)  i'm not sure what i'd do without multiple errors.  commit hara-kiri, i suppose, when i compile it for the fifty-first time only for it to find YET ANOTHER error.
