Something happened

All of a sudden, clicking on the IDDE icon results in the scwmn32.exe
process being created, but the IDDE screen is not shown. There is
a long, approx 30 second or more, pause where the dm logo screen
is shown, then it closes. Clicking the icon again brings up the title and
menu bar (grayed out) and the program does not respond.

I have sp2 with all updates. What info can I provide to get this working again?

I did a clean install of dm from cd, but the problem persists. All files are rw.

Clean install of Windows allows sw32 to run. Some program or another must have trashed a needed dll. Oh well.
