Hi all.

Sorry if I put the foot into it, but when is Facebook going to use more D based programs ? Why don't they do that ? because std functions use the GC ? What happened since the end of 2013 ?

I feel like we miss manpower, renown, credibility... and i think it's such a shame, because D is the best language i know of ...

It's quite known that a language greatly benefits from corporate backing, am i wrong?

So what is the rational at Facebook? Are they going to wait D' s dead to endorse it?

Thanks for any clue or even better, an answer ?

Facebook, and any other business, isn't in the business of "endorsing" languages. It's a useful tool, they use it where they can. Andrei has said they use it more than the publicly available OSS programs they've put out, but he couldn't talk about all their use, presumably for competitive reasons.

They have tried to help out with manpower a little, by putting up bounties for several bugs, many of which are still unclaimed:

If you're looking for them to put several developers on the language itself, perhaps that's not a good investment for them yet. I've heard they use several programming languages for various tools, so it's not like D is the only non-standard language they're using.

I dont believe its about endorsement but At the moment i believe facebook wants to have a foot in the door. And they have a pretty big foot in there too.
