Previously, standard resolution for a smartphone was QVGA (quarter VGA). iPhone is half VGA. I think phones are, by and large, moving to full VGA (my Freerunner is full VGA).

VGA resolution is 640x480. The iPhone is 320x480. QVGA isn't really usable.
