In SWT it's just the bindings which are written in C using JNI (these are generate automatically with a tool). Since D can link to C there's no need for any C code. Just bindings to the native libraries.

Don't know what code base he used for SWT but the DWT repository contains:

* 16 libraries from Eclipse
* 1 library from IBM
* 2 code bases for snippets
* 2 SWT platforms (I counted those as 1 in the above number)

So the DWT repository contains in total 20 different libraries/code bases.

According to a Wiki I found, yea. I don't entirely remember though, it's been awhile. But he definitely says some things along those general lines. All while rocking in his chair and swinging his cane at you.
