TIOBE is not a fantastic source of data. It's only search engine results. How about we stop giving it credit?

Or at least give it credit for what it is: search engine buzz.

Metrics like this can be fun, if taken in the right spirit. If you are not watching it then you cannot spot and speak out against people taking the wrong things from the metric.

I think the main problem is that the data collection appears to be fundamentally flawed. I wouldn't be surprised if it matches against "java d compiler" (weird misspelling of "java decompiler"?) and "3-D programming" etc. Seriously, how can one get absolute numbers for "D" and "Go"?

You can't. Hence dlang golang rustlang as an idiom.

Tiobe's data is garbage? Already discussed? Only search engine stuff? Who cares?
