I'm flying in to Berlin late on May 2nd. I'll be staying at the Hotel Ibis, slated to be the "unofficial hangout place" according to the DConf site. I'm curious who else will be in the area on the 3rd. I'm usually an explorer when I visit a city for the first time, but on this trip I'd be more interested in hanging out with others from DLand, conversing about our favorite language, if anyone's up for it.

I'm landing at around noon. Staying at Hotel Britz, two blocks away from Hotel Ibis. See you then... :)

I'm staying at Hobel Ibis as well and showing up on Sunday morning (primarily due to which flights were cheapest), and I'm not much of a sightseer, so I expect that I'll be at the hotel, and I expect that there will be other D folks hanging out there a day or two before the conference, though how many would be in the lobby where you could find them without posting about it first, I don't know. :) But I expect that I'll see you there.

I'm landing the 1st of May and are also staying at the Hotel Ibis. I'll be doing some sightseeing before the conference.

I'm landing on the afternoon of the 3rd. I'll finally have to experience what everyone outside the US has been for the last 3 with the time change :) Also, having a red-eye isn't going to help...

Will see you guys all in the Lobby!

Regarding exploring, I'm in Berlin all day Saturday (7th). Anyone going to do anything that day?

Now I definitely have to pack my copy of Learning D :)

Both Hotel Ibis and Hotel Britz were already booked.

Is

Paul-Lincke-Ufer 39-40, 10999 Berlin, Tyskland

the correct adress?

Does anyone have any other recommendations for hotels nearby?

I'm arriving Tuesday evening.

Nope. The conference will be held on Karl-Marx Str. 141 (

I actually rejected an offer I got from Hotel Britz yesterday.

I'm arriving Sunday afternoon and plan to spend the next 2 days sightseeing. Berlin is a very historic city, and I want to cram in as much as I can :-)

I was there in 1969, and want to visit the same sites and do "now and then" retakes of old pictures I have.

Alrighty, then. Plenty of people around so I'm confident I won't be lonely. I suppose I'll get a little bit of sightseeing in during the a.m. and early afternoon then make for the lobby after. I at least want to get to Potsdamer Platz and visit some of the touristy spots around there.

I wish I could hang around. I have a 6:30 a.m. flight that I am sooo not looking forward to. I need to be back in Seoul before Sunday evening. There weren't many options that fit my budget and didn't have a ridiculously long layover. My wife handled the booking (she was planning to come with me and we were going to make 10 days of it, but she couldn't get away from work), but if it had been solely up to me I would have said to hell with the budget for the extra sleep.
