Anyone have these laying around? I'd like to digitize them before they're lost forever. I have a few, but they're in PAL format and I don't have the equipment to read them.

They're from the late 80's and are of historical interest only.

I did a couple of VHS digitization recently.

My P4 came in real handy to do it!

Here in New Zealand there are companies that do digitization, you should be able to get somebody local to do it, regardless of format. I would offer but ugh I had to borrow a VHS player to do it and what with shipping the way that it is right now...

Some of my Zortech tapes are in PAL format, which requires a $500-$600 player to play. Ugh.

If you're comfortable sending them out, there are services that will digitize them for you.

That's probably a last resort. I'm exploring simply getting a VHS copy! Mainly for cost reasons, and those tapes are of no value anymore to anyone else.

If you have the tapes, I can donate you a PAL player. It worked like 10+ years ago (I can make sure if it's still in working order if needed), and it requires 220-240V mains, but most likely it has a simple transformer, so it can be hooked up to 240V outlets, if you're adventurous and don't fear from mains power.

I have issues with getting any kind of money, but probably I can sort the posting fees out somehow.

This is a most generous offer, but I don't have 240V! Aaaaagggcccchhhh!!!!

Hah, looks like I can get a step up transformer from Amazon!

So I'm good to go. I can pay you via paypal if that works?

Here's my e-mail: laszloszeremi at outlook dot com

I think I'll first check if the tape player works, also I'll get something so you can get the composite PAL signal + mono audio from its SCART output.
