I got this mail recently from the Chinese domain registry as apparently a company tried to register dlang.cn.

tl;dr: does anyone want to register the mentioned domains for the D community?

It would be great if someone could forward / ask the Chinese D sub community.

---
Dear Sebastian Wilzbach,

We have already suggested that they [this other company] should choose another name to avoid this conflict according as your company have no relationship with them, but they persist in this name as China domain names (dlang.cn, dlang.com.cn, dlang.net.cn, dlang.org.cn) and internet keyword. In our opinion, maybe they do the similar business as your company then register it to promote his company.

As is known to all, the domain name can be bought by anybody on the international principle of "first-come-first-serve". Any company or individual have the right to register any domain name and internet keyword which are unregistered. Your company haven't registered this name as China domains and internet keyword, so any company is able to obtain them by registration. But in order to avoid this conflict, the trademark or original name owner have priority right to register China domain name and internet keyword during our dispute period. If your company is the original owner of this name and want to register these China domain names (dlang.cn, dlang.com.cn, dlang.net.cn, dlang.org.cn) and internet keyword to prevent anybody from using them, please inform us. We can send you an application form with price list to help your company register these China domains and internet keyword during our dispute period.

Look forward to your reply.

I am a d user for ten years, but not contribute much to D community. also not post much here because my poor english skill.

I has try D GUI and many things, at last I find D is suit for network & web develop. So I create this https://github.com/changloong/libuv , I plan in the future to open source more wrapper around libuv and fiber base projects.

I would like to register this domain and maintain it as a Chinese forum and code base for D programing language.

The early and biggest d community is https://dlang-group.iteye.com/ , but because lack of practical use in real product, no body active anymore. Right now the only China company use D for product is https://www.putao.com/ (maybe more company out there, but no open source project or recruitment record).

I got similar mails for our domains, resulting in registering some other domain name endings like: .biz and .org to avoid that they get grabbed by someone else. Later I realized, that this is just a strategy to sell domains to foreigners with a way to high price.

So it might make sense to use as many dlang domains for D as possible but don't beleave that someone not working with D would like to register them in china...

We have two domain names, dlangchina.com and dlang.org.cn, to build a Chinese community of D programming language.

I think Hunt Labs is Putao and they have open sourced quite a lot.

Symmetry Investments has a HK office and in time we might open up a Shenzhen office too. We are interested in getting to know the Chinese D community and could also hire from it either for remote work or from HK. I'm just constrained by bandwidth right now but will be actively hiring for HK after dconf.

If nobody else is better placed I would be happy to register the dlang.cn domain and point it to dlang.org. just let me (or better John Colvin or Robert Schadek) know.

Laeeth.

seems https://forums.dlangchina.com/ is the only domain work as forum, and thanks for setup this and maybe you are willing to take over dlang.cn ?

I guess my poor english did not express my thoughts clearly, Hunt Labs is the only China company offer Job and open source project as i know.

I am glad Symmetry Investments is also join and open office in China main land. Please do share Symmetry Investments HK/Shenzhen Position recruitment requirement here, I am sure there is more skill and passionate Chinese programmer will to join in like me. Use D language in the profit product is the best way to help it grow mature.

I am happy you or @zoujiaqing take over dlang.cn domain, just don't want see it to be used as non-Dlang website.

I'm the founder of HuntLabs, and I'm also the co-founder of Putao company, and we've been working on creating a Chinese community for the D language, because we don't have a domain name for dlang.cn, so we use dlangchina.com or dlang.org.cn as the main domain name for the Chinese community. I will give a speech on the 23rd of this month: using the D language to quickly build high-performance servers. ( https://www.oschina.net/event/2303938 )
