Hi,
So I was thinking about fixing the mobile design of the forum (web front-end of the mailing lists, aka DFeed) for a while and I finally got around to laying out something tangible:
Fix #79 - Redesign forum group index to be mobile friendly

Main motivation is to turn this:
old

Into something like this:
new

I'm looking forward to feedback about what you like / don't like as well as any suggestions on how to improve the design. Please use this thread unless it's directly related to the PR code.

Thanks!

I don't use the forums on mobile, so can't speak to that aspect of it, but I find the proposed new design a lot harder to skim.

I dont like the fact that the default version get changed too even if you're right about the issue.

How about mobile.dlang.org that uses the "small-res-friendly" style ?

First let me say that the CURRENT forum design on mobile sucks hard. I have an old phone with 4.8" screen and I gave up using it to access the CURRENT forum when I'm on the street.

So one day I decided to create a mirror: http://www.mazeware.com/dforums.html, which I use when I'm on street.

Remember I did that to make it comfortable to use on small screens. So I shared here and there were mixed feelings with the users, some like it and some hate it.

Well in the end I use and prefer my layout instead of the CURRENT version on mobile.

Now to be honest I would prefer something like this layout: https://i.reddit.com/r/learnmath

I would prefer a clean version on desktop too, the current one for me is very heavy on all theses borders and so on.

And thinking of mobile.

Matheus.

Subdomain seems overkill. I could make it another "view mode" in the forum settings and allow people to change it back to old style if they wish to do so. Thoughts?

I have an 8" tablet and the current design works fine on it. The new design looks like an improvement for small screens, but I'd appreciate the option to keep using the desktop site.

I use the threaded mode on PC as well as on mobile, always. I would not use the proposed mode, nor the mode it would replace. So as long as the threaded mode remains, I’m fine with anything :-)
