Greetings,

I'm new to this D community, which is very interessting and trying to start over .. I've read several posts in this newsgroup and in the wicki4d and here and there on the web, but have'nt found the right informations / files - so, please be patient if a D newbie. Thanks in advance.

I'm looking for a copy of DIDE, the download from the original page (atari-soldiers) is temporarly anavailable. Has anybody a new copy ?

Björn

I used to have it but lost it when formatting my PC, what I do now is I use Crimson Editor and configure it to compile D files easily with the tools option.

http://www.crimsoneditor.com/

Then load this file into one of the tools:

http://www.nidhogg.com/d_tool.cmd

To compile the active file hold control alt + f1. This is probably enough functionality to get started with D.

The creator DIDE has halted on development and I think the atari-soldiers download is /permanently/ unavailable. I'd recommended that you just give up on DIDE and try another editor that will highlight D keywords. Here's a list of suggestions:

http://www.prowiki.org/wiki4d/wiki.cgi?EditorSupport

I like Jens File Editor, but that's just me.

Thanks for your suggestion, so I will try another editor ... I only thought about an IDE because of it's simpleness of managing, editing, compiling and debugging all in one application.

Nevertheless, this D community is very nice and helpfull and after a while (and
a whole bunch of question to it(!!)) maybe I can give back a little of the help
I got.

So long ... have a nice day

Björn

As noted in "How is D doing?" post:

One may still get DIDE (dide_full_995a_UNSUPPORTED.zip) at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dide/ . After joining the group click files on the left hand menu and choose the file name above.

I have a question about DIDE toolbars though. Why don't they stay in place as I ordered them? Instead every now and then they jump to their previous positions (stacked vertically).

This only started happening after I added the user defined key accelerators, which stores its contents in the registry ( you wouldn't believe what a pain this is in C++ , cant wait till DFL is 100% ). The new IDE ( elephant) shouldn't have these problems.

Cheers,
Charlie

Since some of you are using DIDE, I think you may like my little program ;) Basically, I got bored of the default white background and wanted to change it to black... But DIDE didn't let me since the whitespace remained... white. So I wrote a program that would send messages to the Scintilla window, telling it to change the colors :) You can download the program here:

http://codeinsane.info/code/highlighter/highlighter.exe
May the source be with you:
http://codeinsane.info/code/highlighter/highlighter.d

I'm also holding a copy of DIDE online at the following address:
http://codeinsane.info/download/DIDE.zip
