Need Gentoo ebuilds?
May 23, 2005
I'm using Gentoo Linux as a primary OS. It would be useful to create an ebuild (gentoo program installer - similar to rpm, deb, .msi etc.) for the DMD / GDC. This would help Gentoo users a lot since the program installations on Gentoo are automatically updated using ebuilds.

Unfortunately there are some license & fetch restriction issues with commercial software ebuilds. I'm not a lawyer so I need to investigate this a bit deeper. This also requires someone to write new ebuilds for the future versions of DMD / GDC. I'm a bit busy during the summer.

Feel free to comment the idea.

Sorry, somehow I forgot we have bugs.gentoo.org. I hope they will add it to the portage tree soon too.
