What, you don't think that blub8739 was his real name?! How very skeptical of you. ;)

P.S. I would feel very sorry for blub8739 if that were actually his real name...

My brother used to go to school with a fellow named Nilknarf. Apparently, his mother wouldn't let his father (whose name was Franklin) name the kid Franklin Jr, so he got named Franklin backwards...

It's more appropriate I suppose :-). It was the result of an hours-long attempt to find an unclaimed IM nick without numbers in it.

I'll see about creating a nick involving "Sean" if you'd prefer.

As long as your real name is displayed, I don't see why it would be a problem. Apparently, you're only allowed to rename yourself once on github anyway. So, unless there's a big reason to, I'd think that it would be fine to leave it as is just so long as your real name is visible. I mean, even something like jmdavis or andralex aren't exactly enough to be sure about who is who anyway. So, complexmath isn't a problem, just surprising. If your real name is displayed with it, then there isn't any confusion.

Okay, sounds good. Using 'complexmath' is just a matter of consistency for me at this point. I've used the nick for probably 10 years now.

Not necessary, as the profile has your name.

Not bad.
I have a friend, "One Zero" whose full name is 1 0 6 9.
He's the first person in the world to have a number as a name. Took
him years of court battles to get it accepted.
But the door's open now for blub8739.

I would get extremely tired of having to explain the situation to every person I meet and every person I do business with.

Reminds me of the First family who named their son Safety. (Shudder) Of course, their daughter got the name April, which was far better.

So how did April like going through life being known as the April Fool? I guess if you're going to give your kid a weird name you may as well go all the way with it. And here we went so far as to ensure that even our kids' initials didn't spell anything that could be a source of name-calling. Ah well.

These days I'd be tempted to name a kid after a celebrity, so that cyberstalking them becomes impractical.
