Might this be a good point to split the downloads into OS-specific bundles?? Like every other application/tool?

This will make things work for this release. The downside is that it won't work if the user installs DMD manually by unpacking the archive at the right place, but if the next DMD release return to using "lib" the problem will be limited to manual downloads of DMD version 2.052, which shouldn't be too bad.

I'll force me to rework my installer so it downloads the right os-specific archive and makes symlinks point to the new paths (I don't expect we'd keep the "osx" directory).

Doing it now or later doesn't change things much for me.

Fairly ornthogonal, except for potentially being in the same scripts, and possibly not even in the same scripts. Not that I'm against the idea. I'm actually in favor of it.. downloading extra stuff I'll never use is pure waste.
