In Bugzilla installations I have used before, such as Mozilla's own, a fairly common phenomenon is tracker bugs, aka meta bugs.

These are issues filed not to report specific bugs or request specific features, but to group together related bugs. For some examples of what I'm on about, see

This is useful for issues with some aspect of a product smaller than a component. Or for creating groups of some nature for which a component or keyword isn't exactly appropriate. Moreover, anybody can create trackers, whereas only an administrator can modify the list of keywords or components.

I had just been thinking about filing a tracker or two in our Bugzilla, but I thought I should ask here first. Does anybody here have any problems with this?

Stewart.

I wouldn't mind seeing something like that: it might clarify a lot of things.

It doesn't seem that people have issues with it, either, seeing as nobody has responded yet. <g>
