April 12, 2007 STLSoft 1.9.1 final release: final issues before we go ... | ||||

Unless anyone's got anything else to request/fix, I'm considering just one more thing before the final release. That last thing is to work out whether explicit_cast can be added to winstl::reg_value and comstl::variant, which, if it works, would be a pretty nice way of getting different types out of a variant-like type. (Sorry, Cláudio. Although I've started scoped_method, and it looks like it'll do all the things we want, it's going to have to wait for 1.10. FWIW, once I've got over the hurdle of 1.9.1, I expect to be able to do minor releases, i.e. 1.10, 1.11, etc. in matters of a month or so, rather than the 1.75 yrs(!) it's taken from 1.8.9 to 1.9.1 <g>) Other than that, all that's left is documentation and website. I've pretty much decided that most of the docs will have to wait for 1.9.2, but I would like some feedback from y'all on what you'd like to see on the website. Ideally, I'd like to keep it as simple and static as possible, but obviously interest and helpfulness trump simple and static. So, please let me know. (If anyone wants to submit website content, that'd be extra-specially nice.) Two things I've definitely thought of are areas of the site that deal with (i) concepts/patterns/principles used by STLSoft, e.g. something like stlsoft.org/concepts/shims.html (don't click on that: it doesn't exist yet!), and (ii) tutorials *not* written in Doxygen (but that are linked from the Doxygenated documentation). I'm hoping to interest some of you users in writing the latter ... Cheers Matthew |
