A lot of people have been holding out to play with D until Christmas FYI.

It can also simple be that most people who used D before, had time to upgrade to the newer version.
Its better to correlate the download rate with the rate of posting in the Learn section, to see how many are really new users. Ali's book downloads seems to have no noticeable difference in this periode, something you normally expect with new people trying out the language ( Especially as the pdf/website book version is free ).
Another issue is that from those graph's the influence of the 2.072 release very fast dropped down again to pre-2.072. So one can conclude there has been no followup.

Btw, I based this mostly off the number of newbies coming on to IRC. There has been quite a large number :) At least compared to the rest of the yar.

Interesting. Maybe it can be useful to get a poll asking the new people how they got introduced to D. Especially if this correlates top the release. If the release news draws in people, maybe it can be interesting to do more increment releases ;)
Btw. IRC ... that is so 1999 :)
