I like the slogan, I'd prefer using the official D logo with it.

The ads will be run in rotation, meaning we can have a whole set of them. For example, Scott Meyers is a big draw, so there should be one that looks like the 3 headshots on the site, underneath is "Alexandrescu * Meyers * Bright", "Dconf 2014 May 21-23"

There should be one that is just snipping out the top of the dconf.org page and running that as a banner.

The version with the official D "D" (two moons) turned out to look good. If you mean with "official logo" the whole logo (including red background etc as on this website) that might be a problem design wise and I'd advise against it. (Imagine the irony of having a slogan that says "better by Dsign" and the design looks awkward :-)

Maybe you could use whatever "D" works in the design and then stick the official logo in the corner or, for the wide formats, on the far left or right side?
