Users of kate/kwrite usually get updates to syntax highlighting files via an update mechanism, but the person who handles our bug report seems to be busy or not particularly interested in updating the file as soon as possible. I've made a lot of improvements to the file since the latest available version 0.38. So it's worth downloading the file and manually installing it in ~/.kde/share/apps/katepart/syntax (and optionally in /usr/share/apps/katepart/syntax).
