As a FYI, freenode staff have stepped down and are urging people to move to alternatives.

While the move to libera was fast and good, I think the official D channel should rather choose OFTC.

By choosing to follow on libera, we still play the game of the FreeNode internal war, which means that we are potentially weaponized, i.e "util idiots".

OFTC is nice, it'is used for exampled by the LLVM project for their main IRC channel.

I can only agree. OFTC is there for almost equally long as FreeNode, and some popular projects picked it for their official IRC channels (GCC, Debian, Ceph, OpenJDK, FLTK, etc). I have created D channel on OFTC 15 years ago and there are few people who are on both networks all the time. It makes more sense to me to move to a rock-solid network that exists for over 2 decades, than to a new network that still needs to be tested.

PS. D would not be the only channel to move to OFTC, there are many that already did or plan to.

Not paranoid enough! What if Andrew Lee is an OFTC false flag?!

Exactly to avoid this sort of schism, I'm in favor of just moving to Libera first as a closed group, because it's designed as "The Freenode you know, minus Andrew Lee." If that turns out to be an issue, well, we just trained how to do server moves and OFTC is still there.
